It's Back....................

What back you say??? The screaming delirium that is Michigan football. As I type Joe is emitting high pitch screaming noises. I myself am not a fan but he has enough for both of us.

We volunteered at Arts Beats and Eats this weekend on the Green Team. We spent our time as trash directors. It was fairly long and painful but it was for a great cause. The folks who put this festival together sure work hard at it. This was the first year for the Green Team but I think it went well. They were trying to get a 95% efficiency rate but I think even 50% saves a ton. They have forks that are potato based that break down in 45 days! It is something ridiculous like 200 years for a regular plastic fork. Joe stayed home on Saturday with the kids but Sam, Kristie and I returned for our second shift.

It's time for back to school again. We went to open house last Wednesday and met the teachers. Pierce has a lot of male teachers this year and I think that will help him. He also has an odd class list that includes Quiz Bowl, Book Club, Horticulture and Viking Lore. Welcome to sixth grade. Kyle will be in Mrs Plewka's class. She seems to be very nice.

Reunion and Barn Party

The Matusik Family reunion and Uncle Joe's Barn party fell on the same day this year. We were kept busy. I have a funny story about the getting ready for these events. I get dressed in my fairly nice clothes and then my husband says to me...Is it time to go? I have to put on my good CAMO shorts. There go all my high society illusions. We may be on COPS next right after the Ingman episode.

Aunt Polly's was fun. Got to see some of the people I don't usually get to see. My cousin Annette might have a bra party. That will be fun. Julie and Megan were there. Megan and Miranda colored together. Uncle Ernie got a surprise cake for his 80th birthday.

We went to Uncle Joe's barn party next. I was very happy to see Aunt Katie and Uncle Jim made it from up north. I also got to see my cousin Melanie and her son Keene, who is already gonna turn one! What a cutie he is!!! I only got a couple pictures there. It was raining so we didn't get to stay long. I did get a picture on my cousins Danielle and Marlena and one of Miranda trying to steal the golf cart. Miranda attempted to sit in the pond. That's my girl. It's always nice to see the little ones. My cousin Jenny's daughter Lilly is adorable, she is right around Mirandas age. My cousin Jill brought her son Colton and he and Miranda played in the wet sand toys together.

Zoo Day..

Jackie invited us to the zoo on Saturday. It was Detroit Edison Day. We went on the walk and saw the animals. They let us in at 7:45, which was neat because they seemed more active than they usually do. The kids all had a lot of fun. Nick wasn't happy about sitting in his stroller and Miranda was crazy angry about her wagon. Whatever, there was a good chance they would have been eaten by the Lion if we let them run. Thanks Jackie!! It was lots of fun.

Pierce's Birthday!!!

My baby boy turned 11 on the fifth of August. He is growing into a fine young man. A little sassy but what can you do? We all love him very much. Here are some pics from his family party here at the house. Later we are going to take him and a few friends to Gameworks.
